Really nice place to stop along the Lake Huron shoreline. The place was very clean and decorated so nicely it felt festive and welcoming. The hostess was very friendly and offered a refreshment while we waited. Arrived during the dinner rush but only waited 10 minutes to be seated. Waitress was bubbly and offered suggestions on the menu which I went with. Portions where good and the taste of there steak was to die for. Prepared perfect and really juicy. The manager came over and we talked for a couple of minutes and he suggested a local winery and told of the history of the stone lodge. Really impressed and would recommend them if you want a great experience with great atmosphere.

What a nice little gem of a place. Considering where it's located, this is a dang good place. The menu has a little bit of everything you could want. The location is nice, the restaurant is nice, the service was wonderful !!! I had a steak. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My wife had a burger and it was also cooked to perfection. Folks, this isn't high-falootin' dining. But, it's great American cuisine done for a reasonable price. I'd venture to say this is the best place to eat in Port Sanilac and possibly anywhere in the area. You'd be wise to give it a try.

As a local, I may be a little biased here but.... This place is amazing! It's a cozy little place we love to eat at. I've never had a bad experience here! The wait staff is tentative and happy, the food is hot and the beer is cold! Stop in and start out with the portobello mushrooms as an appetizer you won't regret it!!

Ordered some takeout pizzas and some chicken wings for a large group and was not disappointed. Both were excellent and ready on time.

We were staying on the western side of The Thumb and decided to do a day-trip over to Port Sanilac; my husband said he'd found what he hoped would be a good place to eat - and it was! We arrived at the very end of lunch and well before dinner. When we arrived, there was one other table occupied. Our server was so very pleasant - helpful and patient as we decided what we would like to eat. The salad that came w/our meal was excellent. I had their special - a fresh fish plate. It was excellent - and huge portions! I took the rest back to our B&B and had it for 2 more lunches! I am sorry I can't provide more details, but . .. we were traveling for 2 months and I just can't remember the details; I guess I should have taken notes - I just remember it was delicious and I had a hard time deciding what I'd like. It's a fun ambiance - northwoods-ish and rustic. TV in the bar. We're so glad we chose to eat here.

Always wanted to stop and eat here because the parking lot is always full. There's a reason why, the food was really good. Prices for the sandwiches are really fair, dinner a little higher than should be. The one thing for those who travel through the thumb already know a lot of those places in the thumb are not so clean, this place is clean the service was good the food was really good and the place was staged and decorated perfectly. All the things that matter to me. We stopped by on a Friday night at 6:00pm and had a thirty minute wait, well worth it. I tend to be tough on restaurant's, so when I give praise to a place trust me it is well deserved. We had the walleye and the portion was huge and done perfectly, also had the Philly steak and cheese. Both really good and the au jus I could have drank by the gallon. This will definitely be one of our stops every weekend we come up.

The Stone Lodge is great place to stop for a meal and is popular with locals as well as people passing by on M25. The lodge features a small bar as well as a spacious adjacent dining area. A table next to the fireplace is pleasant during the colder months while the outdoor deck is nice in the summer months. We've eaten here many times and never had a bad meal yet. The food is fresh, the portions generous and the service good. The parking lot is large and can handle RV's and vehicles pulling trailers, a plus if you're heading north to one of the beautiful state parks in Michigan's Thumb area.

Stopped here for lunch last Saturday. I hadn't been to this place for many years. But in Port Sanilac, the pickins are slim. It was not as I had remembered it. This place has been remodeled and improved. There is a large stone fireplace in the main bar area, and the wood floors and rustic setting are perfect. I ordered a bowl of chili and a fish sandwich (my version of surf & turf). The menu had appetizers, sandwiches, dinners, salads...it was a good compilation. It was not "bar food". I observed a salad bar that was being set up for early dinner. The place was even more elegant being dressed out for the Christmas holidays. The chili had a bite, and was excellent. The fish sandwich was tasty, the fries, crispy.. The service was outstanding. The prices were very reasonable. Although this place is a 30 minute drive, I will go back to try the dinner. I recommend this place.

Excellent seafood dip and warm homemade pita chips. I went here a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend and had great service and a good meal. I was a little afraid to go here after the service I had the first few times but they have improved immensely. I went with a party of 8 today and though the service was slightly slower then your average restaurant, the food was excellent ... We had everything from seafood nachos to the olive burger. If you are not in a rush, try this establishment, steak bites were seasoned perfectly and tender. There are many beer and wine choices. I would not recommend the sangria but I have been to Spain, so if a light fruity wine is what you like, it is excellent. I would have given more stars but the service in the past was bordering on snail pace. The last two visits may change my rating.

Surprised at two negative reviews. This restaurant is not fancy but the food and service were excellent. The Frog's Legs were fantastic, if you like Frog's Legs. Peggy, our server was great and very attentive. We will come back.

Stopped in here for dinner this past Tuesday evening while taking a trip around the Thumb. Very rustic decor. A little on the noisy side. Not real busy the night we were there but appears to be a local hangout. They have a bar area, small dining area next to bar and main dining room. Also have a patio in front of main room. Pretty large menu with specials on drinks and food. Special that night was all you can eat tacos. My wife and I tried the Seafood Nachos as a starter and we were not disappointed. Fresh chips and and a very good portion of cheesy seafood filled goodness. My wife ordered the Olive Burger and I tried the side of Lobster Mac n Cheese and the trio plate of Walleye dinner. Lobster mac was very good with a lot of lobster chunks in it. Walleye was from Alaska and not nearly as tasty as home grown but the trio plate was a much better price than the actual dinner and with all the other food we had it was quite enough. My wife loved her burger which came out as ordered and was big enough for two. Green and black olives in a mayo sauce gave it the name and she enjoyed it a lot. She also tried the lavender rosemary lemonade which is a alcoholic drink. It was a little too sweet but the lavender added a very interesting twist. I cannot say that all the food was FRESH but it was good. Service was very good and the staff that we met were very polite. Did not have any of the problems that some patrons have mentioned on this site and others.

The reinvigorated Stone Lodge, what a place. I'm glad this place is back up and running. The owners are very friendly people. The addition was very welcome too, as it makes the place much roomier and nicer. Their fish is good, the rest I could take or leave really. It's generic bar food. You aren't going to have a heck of a lot of options up in the thumb but this place works when you're looking to just sit down, have a beer and a sandwich, and chat with friends.

The fish is delish and the service is divine. Seriously no complaints. The last two times I've been here in the last two years, I've had the delectably fresh fish and loved every morsel. This last trip I enjoyed a hot cocoa for dessert and left a VERY happy camper. Reviewing this place makes me miss my fam, but I hope the locals keep this place alive until we come back! I also love their Christmas decorations!!

First of all, this is no longer called Palermo's Stone Lodge, because Frank Palermo has passed away. The new owners of The Stone Lodge, or just "The Stone," are great people who have invested in adding a large non-smoking dining area, even before the state went non-smoking in all our restaurants and bars. I'm confused by people's comments that there's not much in Port Sanilac. By my count there are five places to eat here, plus a take out deli at the grocery store, and a seasonal bakery. The Stone has the best food/full bar combo in town. Ambiance is great, a bit noisy when crowded, but it's all part of the Stone Lodge experience. The last time I ate there, a couple of Friday's ago, someone was sitting at the bar playing the banjo and singing while other patrons gathered around and joined in. Whether you want a Friday night fish fry, a good steak, or something lighter like a burger or sandwich, you won't be disappointed with the food here. They also have a super selection of beer, domestic, import and craft brews. Check with them because they occasionally have special events, like an upcoming bourbon tasting. We've attended Christmas parties here too. Say hi to Jenny. Tell her Dave said nice things.

How this place has good reviews is beyond me! We had 2 apps - seafood dip & spinach and artichoke dip. For Entrees we had the ball tip sirloins, lobster mac & cheese and a burger. The burger was ordered well and came out med rare, but because everything we've had so far was bland and tasteless, it got sent back without it being corrected. For a "seafood" place, I didn't expect imitation crab for the prices, especially for imitation crab to be in LOBSTER mac & cheese. It was blah and we left completely disappointed after a $120 tab.
